Little configuration is needed for the Servant. Place a copy of the ClockSync II Servant on each computer on the network that will be synchronized. The Servant application does not need to be in any particular folder.
Synchronizing At Startup
If you want the ClockSync Servant to always synchronize the clock at startup, create an alias to the ClockSync II Servant application and place it in the "Startup Items" folder in your System folder. This will launch the ClockSync II Servant whenever you restart your computer.
Setting Up The Master
Selecting the Master Computer
The Master computer is the computer that will be the "master" clock. The following settings should be configured on this computer.
Setting the Geographic Location
It is important that the computer's geographic location be established, via the "Map" control panel. This ensures that time zone changes are properly tracked.
1) Open the "Map" control panel.
2) Type in the name of a major city near your location (e.g., "New York") and click on the "Find" button.
3) Once the city has been found, click on the "Set" button.
4) Close the "Map" control panel.
Setting the Date and Time
The date, time, and Daylight Saving Time option must be correctly set on this computer.
1) Open the "Date & Time" control panel.
2) Check that the date and time are correct.
3) Make sure that the "Daylight Saving Time" checkbox is checked if you're currently experiencing DST.
4) Close the "Date & Time" control panel.
Allowing Access To The ClockSync Master - Standard File Sharing
In order for ClockSync Servants to communicate with the ClockSync Master, guest applications must be able to attach to the computer the ClockSync Master is running on. This does not mean that users will be able to access volumes or files on the master computer - but it can accept ClockSync messages.
1) Open the "File Sharing" ("Sharing Setup" in System 7.x) control panel.
2) Turn on Program Linking (if the button in the Program Linking area is "Start", click on it to start Program Linking).
3) Close the "File Sharing" control panel.

2) Double-click on the "Guest" icon.
3) Turn on Program Linking for the guest.
4) Close the "Guest" window and save your changes.
5) Close the "Users & Groups" control panel.
Allowing Access To The ClockSync Master - AppleShare IP 5.0

1) Open the "AppleShare IP Manager".
2) Click on the "Open Web & File Admin" button. This launches the Web & File administration application.
3) The Administrator login appears. Log in.
4) The "Web & File Server Activity" window appears.
5) Choose "Show Users & Group List" from the "Users" menu.
6) Double-click on the "Guest" icon.
7) Make sure the "Enable Program Linking" box is checked, and save your change if necessary.
Automatic Launch At Startup
The Master must run at all times, so that Servants can synchronize to it. To ensure this, you should establish the Master to run at startup. This is easily done by creating an alias to the Master and placing it in the "Startup Items" folder in your System folder. This will launch the ClockSync II Master whenever you restart your computer.
